Miao batik or la ran (蜡染), from Guizhou, China, is a wax-resist dyeing technique that has been around since the Qin and Han dynasties. The pattern is drawn onto the fabric with melted beeswax which acts as a dye resist during the natural indigo dyeing process.
Perfect for beginners and seasoned artists alike, unleash your creativity and explore the ancient art of batik with our comprehensive Batik Kit!
What’s included:
- 1 batik knife (la dao/蜡刀): Chinese wax drawing pen/tool, made of copper plates fitted onto a wooden/bamboo handle
- 150g of natural beeswax (already melted in pot)
- 1 wax pot: mini electric pots operating on 110V-130V; made of food-grade stainless steel and ABS materials, corrosion-resistant, rust-resistant, durable and long-lasting; optimized for melting beeswax with its two heat settings and a maximum temperature of 70ºC
- 1 piece of cotton fabric: hemmed, organic lightweight cotton bandana from MAIWA; size approx. 24" square.
DISCLAIMER:
