Miao batik or la ran (蜡染), from Guizhou, China, is a wax-resist dyeing technique that has been around since the Qin and Han dynasties. The pattern is drawn onto the fabric with melted beeswax which acts as a dye resistant during the indigo dyeing process and the “ice crack” effect is achieved through the natural cracking from the dried wax. You may find both horseshoe inspired patterns and lively “ice cracks” on this hand-painted scarf.

Care Guide

1. Not machine washable. Gently hand wash in cold water with a mild, neutral detergent.
a) Please separate from other garments as these are naturally dyed so may bleed.
b) Do not use bleach or any kind of detergent which contains a bleach additive.
c) Bleach will cause splotching of the indigo dye and damage the integrity of the garment or fabric.
2. Do not wring, and simply hang to dry. Try to also limit the exposure of direct, harsh sunlight.
